Guest Houses

If you fancy staying somewhere a bit smaller and more traditional, then a guest house could be the perfect option for you. Malta has a delightful selection of guesthouses scattered around the island and you will be able to find a lovely one that meets your needs whatever your budget. Guest houses will often be referred to as bed and breakfasts and vice versa, so make sure you have a look at the bed and breakfast page as well if this is the type of accommodation you are after.

If you are looking for a holiday with some culture then you may fancy staying in one of the guest houses that can be found in the larger old Maltese towns such as Valetta. If you would like to stay in a resort town that is fully geared up to tourism with plenty of bars, restaurants and activities for holiday makers then Bugibba might be the place for you. For those who prefer somewhere a little quieter, there are some lovely guest houses that are tucked away in more remote locations minutes away from Malta’s beautiful beaches.

Guest houses are usually run by local Maltese families who are very hospitable and friendly and love sharing their local knowledge with you. Staying in a local guest house will also ensure that your money goes directly back in to the Maltese communities rather than in to the large international hotel chains that dominate a lot of the tourism trade.

Another great thing about the guest houses in Malta is that many of them are in very old and traditional buildings that have been able to transform themselves in to clean and comfortable places to stay without losing any of their original charm. You really will feel like you are embracing Malta’s rich history. Whilst guesthouses are usually smaller than hotels and apartments and will all offer single and double rooms, some will also offer triple and even quadruple rooms which can be great if you are travelling as a family. Most guests houses will provide a bed and breakfast service and some also have their own restaurants that are used by other diners and locals as well as guests.

Guest houses really are a brilliant place to stay on your holiday in Malta.
